Archive for Books

This year I have made it an object to read at least one book a month or more. I remember as I was growing up I use to hate to read, and felt as it was boring and never got nothing out of it. But as I got older I started to understand the power of reading and obtaining knowledge through books. Also not just a head knowledge, but a knowledge that I could apply in my everyday life.

Charlie “Tremendous” Jones said, “You are the same today as you’ll be in five years except for two things: the books you read and the people you meet.”

The more you read, the more you learn. I believe reading will affect your behavior, teach you how to be a great leader, and also is great way to train and educate yourself.

Did you know that the average millionaire reads a book a month?

When I saw this, I knew that the decision I made was the correct one. I use to have a hard time getting time to read, but it wasn’t that I didn’t have time; I didn’t make time to read. I started to see reading as choice just like my health. We all have choices to make, and choices have consequences. These days we have made it so easy to read with services like audible, audio books and etc. So really the time excuse is out the window too.

When I say read don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about some science fiction book or suspense thriller. I mean good a book that is going to help you in your personal life, something that you can apply to your business, marriage, and etc. Start taking charge of the person you want to be come and all starts with a book.

Here are some books I have read and recommend to anyone who is looking for a good book.

Conspiracy of the Rich by Robert Kiyosaki
“The MBA courses I took trained you on how to take care of a company, not your life”
—Laura, Scottsdale, AZ (first online interactive book)

Tribes by Seth Godin
“This book has an amazing set of tools for leadership. I learned that leaders initiate instead of react or respond. Good stuff!”
—Suzanne Simms, Vice President of Affiliate Relations

The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell
“The Ideas presented in the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership are simple, clear, and easy to grasp—yet profound! It’s an enjoyable, easy-to-read book that is educational yet entertaining. Whether you are a recent graduate just beginning your career, or a seasoned executive, this book is worth reading… and keeping at hand as a leadership reference guide.”
—Tom Whatley, President, U.S. Sales, Mary Kay Inc.

Remember, leaders are readers, regardless of age or profession. What kind of leader do you want to be in this year? Start becoming it today!

We are all saden by his lost today. He has help so many people in the world achieve there goals and dreams. Let us all say a prayer for his family in this tough time.
Jim Rohn (September 17, 1930 – December 5, 2009) was an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker.
His work has been influential in launching or furthering the careers of many others in the personal development industry, including Anthony Robbins, Mark Victor Hansen, Brian Tracy and Jack Canfield.
Born to an Idaho farming family, Rohn began his early adulthood without acclaim, leaving college after his first year, starting a family, and trying to get by as best he could as a salaried worker.
By age 25 (according to his accounts), he was in a personal rut familiar to many middle-class families whom were in debt, unable to see a way that would lead to his personal ambitions.
Around this time, he was introduced to John Earl Shoaff, an entrepreneur who impressed Rohn with his wealth, business accomplishments, charisma and life philosophy. Rohn joined Shoaff’s direct sales organization, and began a process of personal development that culminated in his becoming a millionaire by age 31. Unfortunately, Shoaff, who had challenged Rohn to reach for this goal, died one year before Rohn achieved it.
In the years that followed, Rohn discovered a demand from people outside his industry to hear his rags to riches stories, and the personal development philosophy that he felt had led to his accomplishments. Rohn has been presenting his seminars for more than 40 years.
He has addressed over 6,000 audiences and 4 million people worldwide. He was the recipient of the 1985 National Speakers Association CPAE Award. He is also the author of 17 different books, audio and video programs.
Jim Rohn is considered a “Business Philosopher”. He does not claim to teach novel truths, only fundamentals – and as he is fond of saying: “There are no new fundamentals. Truth is not new, it’s old. You’ve got to be a little suspicious of the guy who says, ‘come over here, I want to show you my manufactured antiques!’ No, you can’t manufacture antiques.” Whoever renders service to many puts himself in line for greatness – great wealth, great return, great satisfaction, great reputation, and great joy
Jim Rohn’s “Five Major Pieces To the Life Puzzle”
Philosophy – how you think
Attitude – how you feel
Action – what you do
Results – measure often to see if you are making progress
Lifestyle – the kind of life you can make for yourself out of the first four pieces

napoleon_hill_001 70 years after the book Think and Grow Rich was written, it is still a  highly respected and read book. It has sold millions of copies and is a  ”Bible” for people who are searching financial freedom. The essence of  the book is Napoleon Hill’s famous statement: “Everything your mind  can conceive, you can achieve” The title says the same, in different  words: Think and Grow Rich

The book goes through The thirteen steps to riches according to  Napoleon Hill.

The whole book has a underlying tone of “You can do it!” mentality to  motivate you.

The book offers a lot of questionnaires and practical exercises in  addition to all the text. It gives you clear guide lines in how to set  goals and reach them and how to make clear plans that you can follow  through. You are shown the way to realize your highest potential, and  succeed in anything you set your mind to.

It also teaches you not to give up, and see all mistakes as learning opportunities. Napoleon Hill teaches that successful people never considers temporary failure as a permanent defeat.

Napoleon Hill used over 25 years to study over 500 of Americas most successful business men in the start of this century. He took this assignment on from Andrew Carnegie in 1908.If you like to know more about the life of Napoleon Hill, click here:

Biography and bibliography of Napoleon Hill

Andrew Carnegie was at the time the richest man in the world and had from being a Scottish immigrant with no money, worked himself the way to become a giant steel manufacturer. If you like to know more about the life of Andrew Carnegie click here.

Biography of Andrew Carnegie

Carnegie believed that any one could achieve the same success as him and wanted his success formula passed on to the world. This became Napoleon Hill’s life task.

The success formula is as relevant and useable now as it was 100 years ago. Maybe even more relevant since now people like me and you start to understand that it is not magic and lucky stars that make people rich. It starts with the way we are thinking.

The book teaches you to think differently, and if you are on your way to financial freedom this one is a must.
