BIOGRAPHY
Hello World,
My name is Joseph McDermott and I’m 30 years old and have been creating businesses since the age of 10. I have always been an entrepreneur. I have always felt that we can do anything we want, if we put are head down and work hard. Main thing is you want to see it to completion.
Now you are probably thinking “how did a kid at 10 years old start a business” well like any other business minded person. I applied a success modeling. I saw that the arcade and the Circle K was doing well, and they only gave us one life for a quarter.
So there was a great new system coming out that was just as good, and was sweeping the nation. It was some new thing you might have heard of called “Nintendo”
So my family was pretty poor, but we got by on what we had. So funny thing about me, I watched a lot of movies that dealt with business or something like it. I see them pull out there white board or they business proposal and pitch the idea to get people to buy into there idea or make a sale.
So I guess what I did? I got my drawing Pad, and pitch my parents why I could make a $1000.00 dollars in 2 months. They bought into it, and my first week I was able to pay back my parents and made thousand bucks in two months. A simple idea of giving two lives for one quarter.
So my story begins after I drop out of High School. It was my sophomore year and I wasn’t really confident in anything I did, an like most 17 years old trying to figure out my identity. My parents will evolve in drugs and other activities during my adolescent life. It was hard me and I had to really learn how to be independent at young age. So I got a plenty of jobs and always felt like I could do more.
Then my life took a turn for the best and I had a friend introduce me to a Bible Study in gilbert. I was never really religious at all; neither was my family. I said “No” at first, but then he told me that there was going to be food there, so I was in. It was August of 2000, don’t remember the exact date; but I was changed from that day and have been going strong ever since then.
Almost first opportunity came when I was 20 years old. I discovered the world of Network Marketing. My first company was Primerica Finical Services. I remember my friend telling me he had meet this guy the gym, and he wanted to talk to me about a business opportunity.
So I went to my first meeting, and I saw opportunity for the first time. So many times when I was growing up, people said that I need to go to school, graduate college, get a good job, and then you will be able to retire around 65 years old. Well I knew there was something better and I found it. It’s called Network Marketing or the MLM industry.
Well I got involve with Primerca with a couple of friends. You should saw how excited I was about it. Everybody that came within three feet of me got talked too. So I was getting meeting-after-meeting and doing very well. Then it came down to taking the test. Well let’s just say the test anxiety set in, and I could never pas it. So I was closing deals but getting barely anything for it, because I wasn’t license by the state.
So I had my first encounter with failure, and it didn’t feel good. Now I could have just quit altogether, but I was hungry to have the success that others had in this industry. So I determine to find something that would fit my personality and product that would be great for me.
I found that company and put me on the path that I was looking for all along. That company was ACN, which was in the telecommunications industry. I meet some really good people, and found a mentor who was were I was at young age. He taught me the science behind this industry, and why most people fail. With his help I was able to be a large team, and have some good success.
Now with all good things, there are usually some bumps in the road. I was fast with a decision to start with a company and some leaders who were doing a start-up. Well in my mind I trusted them, and even up leaving ACN to be one of the key figures in helping this company grow.
So after getting off to a great start, are started to notice some things that were not right. Also I had some questions about the product. Well I went on being the good leader and recruiting more people anyway because I trusted the leaders, and then it happen. This was more first encounter with “FTC” and they were asking the questions that I was thinking all along.
Well they ended firing the CEO and tried to turn it around but it was too late. So at this point I was frustrated and very cynical about the industry overall and vowed never do to Network Marketing again.
So I went back to work in that same unhappy state knowing there was something better. Then I got a phone call from my pastor, and told me about a guy who needs help with sales for a Microsoft Solutions product. So I decided to meet him and this started my career in the software industry.
We ended up doing close to a million dollars in busy in our first year, and had zero experience with the product, and honestly wasn’t that great with math. So it came time to talk about being a partner and receiving a portion of the company earnings. Well let’s just say that I learn a important lesson, and that is get it in witting.
My business partner and I ended up leaving and starting our own company, with the same product with a unique niche in the industry. Things we hard in the beginning like any business, but we were able to create a six figure year. We were able to prosper for most of the time while the country was in turmoil. Eventually it reach our industry and I was looking for the next thing.
Well again my pastor called me and told me about a friend who has got involve with this company and I should take a look at it. Well I already new it was MLM or network marketing business opportunity, but I wanted to honor my pastor. So I talked to a guy who I was so impressed with, and he had never been in network marketing
My journey took me to Dallas to meet the leaders and the founder of this company. I didn’t want to get involve in another company with no future, and a terrible product that didn’t enrich people’s lives. So after seeing the vision and the founders and hearing the stories and why they built this company; I was truly impressed and amazed by their character.
My business partner and I push all our chips in the center of the table and went to work. I see this as being the most important business venture of my career and look forward to being one of the top income leaders soon. So far are team has built a team of hundreds of business reps in close to all 50 states, and 3 countries.
I’m looking to work with people who have an overwhelming desire to want to succeed in this industry. Our team is the fast growing team, and we have great leaders all throughout or organization.
